Medford School Committee Appoints Dr. Suzanne B. Galusi as Interim Superintendent
MEDFORD - The Medford School Committee has appointed Dr. Suzanne B. Galusi as Interim Superintendent of Schools, effective January 18, 2025. The interim appointment comes following the Medford School Committee and Dr. Marice Edouard-Vincent’s mutual agreement that the Superintendent’s contract will conclude on January 17, 2025.
Dr. Galusi, the current Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Instruction for Medford Public Schools, will lead the district until June 30, 2026. Dr. Galusi’s appointment was made during the December 11, 2024 Special Meeting of the Medford School Committee.
“When deciding on who to appoint for this interim position, the number one priority for the Committee was stability,” said Mayor Lungo-Koehn on behalf of the Medford School Committee. “Throughout her time in Medford, Dr. Galusi has proven the ability to enhance the student learning experience. As the Committee and the district work collaboratively towards implementing the additional school funding approved by the voters in November, address the needs of the supplemental budget, move through the MSBA process for a new Medford High School and so much more, Dr. Galusi’s experiences and voice in these discussions has been invaluable. She is a terrific representation of what it means to be a Medford Mustang and is well equipped to lead our school community.”
Dr. Galusi joined Medford Public Schools as an elementary classroom teacher in 1997 and has been with the district ever since. Originally beginning at the Davenport School, Dr. Galusi also taught at the McGlynn Elementary School before joining the Roberts and Brooks Elementary School in a dual administrative role. Following eight total years at Brooks Elementary School, including the last four as school principal, Dr. Galusi joined the Medford Public Schools central administration team as an assistant superintendent in 2020.
“I am grateful for the responsibility of being named as the Interim Superintendent of Medford Public Schools,” said Dr. Galusi. “Through my experience as an educator, administrator and former student in Medford, I have seen firsthand this community’s passion for education and its commitment to our students. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve in this role while the School Committee searches for a permanent appointment.”
Dr. Galusi holds an undergraduate degree in Education from Framingham State University (1996), a master’s degree in Education from Lesley University (2000), and a doctorate in Education from the Boston College Lynch School of Education (2024). She will immediately begin transition activities and recommend any required changes to the Medford School Committee to ensure a smooth process and successful remainder of the school year.
