This fact sheet is to help you as a parent/guardian to find the answers you may need to ensure a smooth start to the school year and moving forward. The transitions that occur in middle school are an important part of adolescents. The information below will provide you with contacts, resources and procedures to follow to help support you and your student. This is the stage when we want to keep an eye on them, but also teach them self-reliance and advocacy.
The Parent/Guardian Fact Sheet is available as a pdf.

Tick exposure can occur year-round, but ticks are most active during warmer months (April-September). There are two species of ticks common in Massachusetts—the Deer Tick (Ixodes scapularis) and the Dog Tick (Dermacentor variabillis). An adult Deer Tick is substantially smaller than the more common Dog Tick.
Medford has identified special education records from 2016 of former students that will be shredded on September 1, 2023 for protection of your privacy. According to Policy on Destruction of Student Records 603 CMR 23.06, a student’s temporary record shall be destroyed no later than seven years of graduation or withdrawal from our school system.
We encourage all graduates to pick up their records before graduation to ensure you have documents you may need in the future and to protect your privacy.
